Maruti Suzuki India is all set to launch the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift in the Indian market. The new Swift in its fourth generation is essentially a heavily updated version of the third-gen platform with a new design, an all-new engine and an updated interior layout with new features. In this article, let’s take a look at everything you need to know about the new Swift.
Bookings and launch date
The Bookings for the next-gen Swift is already underway. Interested customers can book the new Swift online or by visiting their nearest dealer. The booking amount is set at Rs 11,000 and deliveries are expected to begin from June 2024. The hatch will be launched in the Indian market on May 9, 2024.

Design changes
The new Swift features a re-designed front bumper and a new grille with chunky black surrounds and it also features re-designed smoked LED headlamps with DRLs. Below it gets the revised fog lamp housing with a splitter.

The clamshell bonnet is a lot shallower and at the sides, the door handles for the rear doors are back to their conventional location, instead of on the C-pillar. At the rear, it gets a re-designed tailgate and a new bumper with a skid plate below. Other highlights include an integrated rear spoiler with a stop lamp, LED taillights with C-shaped DRLs and reflectors below. Other highlights include blacked-out ORVMs, roofs and pillars. It also features prominent character lines running across the door panels.
Interior and features

Moving inside, the interior of the new Swift takes inspiration from Baleno and Fronx. It gets a new dashboard layout with a floating infotainment system with sleek AC vents and HVAC controls below. Other expected features include wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car tech, steering-mounted controls, automatic climate controls and other convenience features.

Engine and gearbox
The new Swift is expected to be powered by an all-new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that’ll replace the existing K12 four-cylinder engine. Detailed specifications haven’t been revealed yet but it’s expected to have more than 85 hp of Power and 110 nm torque. Gearbox options will include a 5-speed manual or an AMT.
