NEW DELHI: Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 80 parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. It is a General category seat, encompassing part of Banda district, as well as the entire Hamirpur and Mahoba districts.
People in Hamirpur constituency will vote in Phase 5 of Lok Sabha elections, 2024 on May 20.
The literacy rate in this constituency stands at 57.1%.Rural voters make up approximately 1,448,595, which is around 82.9% of the total electorate, according to the 2011 Census.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the voter turnout in Hamirpur was 62.2%. Kunwar Pushpendra Singh Chandel from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured the seat with a margin of 248,652 votes. Chandel received 575,122 votes, accounting for a 53.00% vote share. His main competitor, Dilip Kumar Singh from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), garnered 326,470 votes, representing 29.95% of the total votes.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Chandel also won the seat, polling 453,884 votes with a 46.41% vote share. The Samajwadi Party’s (SP) candidate, Bishambhar Prasad Nishad, was the runner-up with 187,096 votes, equating to a 19.13% vote share. Chandel defeated Nishad by a margin of 266,788 votes.
For the upcoming election, the BJP has once again fielded Kunwar Pushpendra Singh Chandel. He will contest against Ajendra Singh Rajput from the SP and Nirdosh Kumar Dixit from the BSP.
