Imran Khan has been in the news for a while now, as he’s back in the limelight after many years. His interviews are going viral and the actor is set to make his comeback on screen with Vir Das‘ directorial debut. A few days ago, Imran had said in an interview that these days there is a glamourization and fetishization in cinema.
The actor had said in an interview with Film Companion, “I have a sense about where cinema is these days. There is a glamourisation and a fetishization and sexualisation of violence that makes me uncomfortable. There is a way to portray violence. This is not a morality thing. Violence and action are… it is a language in cinema but when we communicate it, when we portray it in films, there is a way to do it where you feel the weight of it.”
This led to everyone thinking that Imran took a dig at Ranbir Kapoor‘s ‘Animal‘. However, that is far from truth. The actor clarified his statement in a latest interview with Zoom, and said, “People like to take these things and make it about something else. I have been raised in such a way that I would praise in public and criticize in private.”
Khan further clarified that he was talking about an espionage series which he was offered by Abbas Tyrewala who directed ‘Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na’. Hence, he was addressing his part in it, wherein his character was a spy, an action guy and the series had a lot of violence.
Infact, Imran has not yet watch ‘Animal’. He admitted to not watching a lot of Hindi movies in the last few years as he had this conscious disconnection from the business of the movies. The actor said he is not yet qualified to talk about ‘Animal’ because he has not yet seen the film.
Imran was last seen in the 2008 film ‘Katti Batti‘.
