Tata Motors owned, Jaguar Land Rover today announced that the flagship Range Rover luxury SUV and the Range Rover Sport will be locally manufactured in the country. The SUVs will be manufactured at the company’s facility in Pune and this move marks the first time these luxury SUVs will be produced outside the United Kingdom. Also, the sales and deliveries of the locally-made SUVs will begin from today itself.

The company has already been manufacturing four Land Rover models in India – F-Pace, Discovery Sport, Evoque and Velar.And now, the flagship Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models will be manufactured alongside and the production of the two models will supplement the production already taking place in the UK’s Solihull since 1970. The Solihull will also remain the home for Range Rover’s upcoming fully-electric model and high-performance “SV” variants.

Talking about the pricing, the locally produced Range Rover 3.0-litre HSE LWB diesel is priced at Rs 2.36 crore and the petrol Autobiography version is priced at Rs 2.6 crore (both prices ex-showroom). The much sportier Range Rover Sport is priced at 1.40 crore (ex-showroom). Along with this announcement, the company also inaugurated Range Rover House – the first such experiential centre of the brand in India situated at Alibaug, on the Konkan coast.
