Amid the widespread headlines about the Pune Porsche case, where a minor’s crash led to the tragic deaths of two IT professionals, another video has surfaced on social media. This video shows a Mumbai teenager driving his father’s BMW on a busy road in Kalyan, with a man lying comfortably on the car’s hood.
Police have arrested Subham Mithila, the man seen lying on the car’s bonnet, and a case has been registered against the 17-year-old driver along with his father, a retired government official who owns the car, an official stated on Monday. The incident occurred on Saturday in the busy Shivaji Chowk area of Kalyan city in Thane district.

“The teenager was inspired by social media reels and convinced his father to buy a second-hand BMW for Rs 5 lakh, driving it on the street without a license,” said senior police inspector Suresh Gund. The car’s owner has been served a notice, he added. Being a 17-year-old, it is worth noting that the teen didn’t even have a license, like in the Pune Porsche case, and was performing dangerous stunts on busy roads.

The arrest occurs amidst ongoing investigations into a separate incident in Pune involving a teenage driver. The Mumbai case further highlights the dangers of unlicensed driving and reckless stunts. Authorities are expected to use this incident as a deterrent to prevent similar behavior in the future while investigations are still on in Pune, with the case taking several turns each passing day.
